What if 51% of the people want the arterial road? What if 75% do?

If the money spent on the road essentially belongs to us, and us say we want the arterial road, why angry letters and finger pointing? Don't you need to convince the majority not to spend their money on something they want?

You make is sound like most people do not want easy moving, pothole free roadways. If most people want it and most people are paying for it why can't they have it?
