The play was indeed highly entertaining as a narrative about a young Persian girl, but also has a piece about a Fringe actor who shamelessly self-promoted his work all through the performance. I also kept wondering if the actor would in some way deal with the optics of a man playing a girl (a supercharged idea in this country), but he never did. What could have been a profound piece about gender and sexuality from multiple perspectives, was just a humorous story about a girl who discovers that she was great with herself. I wanted more.
