RTH reader Brandon sent me a note to let me know that Vancouver has joined the list of cities that ban idling.
After a gracious six-month awareness campaign, drivers idling for more than three minutes can now expect a $50 to $100 fine, and thanks to an idle-free hotline 604-257-2404, idling is risky business.
The bylaw is part of an aggressive City of Vancouver plan put in place in 2003 to reduce community-wide greenhouse gas emissions by six per cent by 2012.
While other cities enact their aggressive plans to clean the air and improve quality of life, Hamilton continues to fall farther behind, hobbled by retrograde thinking at city hall.
