Green buildings are becoming more and more popular throughout the world.
Canada, as usual, is lagging behind other nations in adopting the LEED standards for sustainable, environmentally-friendly construction. LEED stands for 'leadership in energy and design'.
A recent Steelcare warehouse in Hamilton's industrial district is hoping to be certified by the LEED standard due to the exceptional care taken during construction of this building to be environmentally efficient and wise.
Vancouver, BC is undoubtedly leading the way in this area and has now mandated that all new public buildings be constructed in compliance with the LEED standards.
Check out this article for more info and pictures of their newest public works yard.
Compare the design of their public works yard to the design of our Steelcare warehouse on Eastport Drive, or any public building in Hamilton for that matter.
Vancouver is consistently voted the number one city in the world to live in and they are making sure that they don't slip or grow complacent, like what happened in Hamilton years ago.
