Opportunity to Pay Respects to Lincoln Alexander

Hamiltonians will have an opportunity to pay their respects to Lincoln M. Alexander this week. A beloved Hamiltonian, Mr. Alexander died on October 19 in his 91st year, after a lifetime of public achievement and personal grace.

He lies in repose on the second floor of City Hall, 71 Main Street West, outside Council Chambers and will remain there until Thursday, October 25. Members of the public can visit and pay their respects from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

A state funeral will take place on Friday, October 26 at Hamilton Place, 1 Summers Lane. A funeral procession will begin at City Hall at 12:30 PM and will move east on Main, north on John and west on King, stopping at the Gore Park Centograph before turning north on Summers Lane to arrive at Hamilton Place.

The funeral, which will be open to the public, will begin at 2:30 PM. A live feed will also be presented in Commonwealth Square, the open plaza across the street from City Hall and in front of the Art Gallery of Hamilton.
