Police Arrest Murphy's Subs Robbery Suspect

Hamilton Police have charged a 40-year-old man in the robbery of Murphy's Sub shop at 219 Dundurn Street South that took place on Saturday, July 11, 2011.

During the robbery, the suspect assaulted both the owner and his wife, and made off with cash from the restaurant. Murphy suffered head injuries from the assault and was hospitalized for a time.

Adam Exley has been charged with Robbery, Aggravated Assault and two counts of Breach of Probation.

The second suspect, described as "white, 6’0” about 50-55 years of age very thin and tanned with grey", is still at large.

I still feel sorry for poor ole' Murphy. That guy's a neighbourhood institution, and what happened to him was tragic.
