Regarding Mr. Deans - that might be for the best..it was painful to watch him on CH news yesterday evening.

Wikipedia sez NYC fielded similar numbers in its 2009 mayoral election. At about 1/27 the metro pop'n, we're punching well above our weight.

Is that Steven Waxman from Waxy's Deli? Recommended Campaign Slogan: "Vote with Your Gut!"

So's Jason Farr. I must be out of the loop. I had no idea. I don't see Matt Jelly's name up there yet. The Ward 2 race will be very interesting indeed.

gotta love these guys like Deans, Caplan and Greco who run for office nowhere near where they live. Ya, great neighbourhood representation. You can't help but wonder if a guy from Ancaster representing Ward 1 would vote for more highways and Walmarts on Hamilton's outskirts or LRT through Ward One?

Get the facts straight - Caplan lives 1/2 block from the Ward boundary, ran a business and worked on issues in the Ward for over 20 years and probably knows the Ward and its issues as well as any candidate and better than most.

That may be true Concerned, but in a field of 21 candidates, you can't fault voters for looking for a candidate with more skin in the game. And nevermind half a block, over on the Hamiltonian, Martinus Geleynse was getting grief for living mere metres from the ward boundary. People really do expect their representatives to live in the ward. By the way, Martinus is moving into the ward. Is Caplan willing to do the same?

man, when I see a list like this, along with the mayoral list it makes me long for term limits like nobody's business. Look at all the old 'has-beens' trying to run again. Career politicians - The absolute worst thing Hamilton could get right now as we try to move our city into the 21st Century. Those of us who have been buoyed by the gradual momentum in the past few years will need to batten down the hatches and ride out the storm of old boys club, back-room dealing, 1970's policy thumping that we'll be facing for 4 years if any of these guys get in.

You only had to watch tonights debate to find out just how horrible your choices are for this election !!! Some of them read from a paper, some looked like they just crawled outta bed and others could't look at the camera.Sadly the top 3 really just skirted around issues with each other ! Truthfully Mr . Ken Leach was the only one to appear poised, confident and not caught up in the hoopla. The best awnser given tonight was his point "we will not go backwards". Lets face it people what's done is done. De-amalgimation will not solve our problems, going back to one way streets doesn't fix squat! What we need are jobs, equalization of services to rural communities, and community based programs that work and more importantantly supported by a strong leadership. Forward thinking cities with strong leaders who MAKE decisions, as well as green initiatives draw investors these days. Not those fighting with there own sports franchises and spinning in circles over every decision in council. Sadly you only have a few more weeks to make a decision so choose wisely !
