Remember The Time

A poem by Kevin Somers.

Does anyone else remember the time
We bought a house with none down and the loan was sub-prime?
It was like getting two quarters in exchange for a dime
And the banks and government were in on the crime

But the whole damn scheme was oiled with slime
And the lies that they told us were simply sublime
What they promised as clean was covered in grime
But we all have a ladder we're eager to climb

And it's been like that since the beginning of time
Now we live in a trailer and I drink beer without lime
And ask my poor wife if she remembers the time.
