Welcome to the last Raise the Hammer issue before our annual summer break to rest, reflect, and re-energize our passion for the city.

When we come back in September, it will be with a new site design that fixes some of the issues with the current design, including:

We'll roll out pieces of the new design over the summer, so please share your opinions on whether we're getting it right and whether we've missed any big opportunities to improve the site.

We will also maintain the Hammerblog over the summer, though the frequency of blog entries will probably fall off as RTH contributers go on vacation and generally enjoy the beautiful summer we're having.

As always, thank you for your ongoing support of RTH. It would literaly be nothing without the invaluable contributions of its authors, readers, and commenters.

Have a great summer!

On my RTH technial wishlist is one thing:

Complete RSS feeds. You guys aren't running ads so why truncate the content?!

Also it's not for me to say because I'm totally oblivious to your design and development process. But why re-invent the wheel when awesome open source software for content management like Wordpress exist for free?

Anyhow all criticism aside RTH is the best read in the city. Keep up the good work and I look forward to all future improvements!

Atom would be the open source way to go. Both formats support the cool stuff like media encapsulation. This could open the door to new stuff like an RTH Podcast for instance. Seriously worth investing time into IMHO.
