Strathcona Snowfall

The first respectable snowfall of the season is supposed to melt later today, but here's a selection of photos I took yesterday to celebrate my neighbourhood in winter.

With the winter of 2011-2012 threatening to be a no-show, I took full advantage of the only legitimate snowfall we've had this season and got out to enjoy the sights in my neighbourhood - Strathcona.

One of the great things about living in this downtown neighbourhood is the easy access to greenspace and natural vistas.

While not a major storm, enough snow fell to allow mother nature to put on a show for us here in the Hammer. Enjoy this snowy morning walk through Strathcona.

Those are some nice pictures. I really need to get out and take some shots of the Harbour - I have a multi-pane picture frame at home and want to take a bunch of the Harbour at various times of the day and year - a nice crisp winter's day with the water iced over; a summer evening with the reflection of the stacks glowing; boats out on a sunny afternoon; the rowers working their way around early in the morning when the fog hasn't fully burned off; that kind of thing.

I hope we get one more big dump of snow for 2 reasons - for more photo essays like this, and because then I can work from home ;)
